Halo 2 frustrates modchip owners

It seems Halo 2 has some sneaky extra-curricula duties, aside from being a pretty good xbox fps. Apparently if you try to play a legal, bought copy of Halo 2 on an xbox with a modchip installed, you get banned from Microsoft's 'Xbox Live' service - their online gaming system. Even if your modchip has been turned off/disabled, people have been finding themselves banned from the service. Nasty stuff, eh? Full story here.

There is a sort of 'live' site for modded x-boxes, but it's incredibly laggy and unstable. Damned if I can remember the name of it at the moment. Lan parties seem to be the way to go, but on 'Live', you can join clans and there's a ranking system. It's sort of cool, but I've never been a Halo kinda gal.

Heya Dy!

Yeah, the game itself was good for a while, and I really like the flying section, but it just didn't hold me like HalfLife 2 does. I do like the idea of the ranking system and automatically being teamed up with/against people of your similar skill level, though. And the fact you can jump on with your clan and travel around and play against other teams. But screw it, I'll keep my modchip in and give it a miss, I think. :)

Well, ya know...you could do what I did. Get two! :) Which is going to be necessary when Dec. rolls around. *droooools* Sith Lords!!!

Or you can hang out with a friend who has a live account, cuz you can actually 'bring a guest' to Halo 2. Sure, it's split-screen, but screw it, blowing up Ghosts is fun! :) And yes, the energy sword fuckin' rocks!
